Article 1.  Low carbohydrate diets are a great way to lose weight but may be devastating to a pregnancy. Experts are beginning to see a rise in brain and spinal cord malformations in the babies of women who restrict their carbohydrate intake during pregnancy, possible due to a lack of folic acid that bread can provide.
